This is a Chinese learning book published in Paris, 1857.
藍色布面硬精裝，前板貼原黃色中文石印書衣，上題「咸豐丁巳年鐫」「漢文啟蒙」「阿伯兒輯」「巴理城」「墨頌訥佛書肆發客」。書中多處留有舊時法文墨筆註釋，主要針對漢字字義、語法結構及例句加以翻譯與解說；另有不少鉛筆校訂及少量漢字習寫。
Bound in blue cloth over boards, with the original yellow lithographed Chinese wrapper mounted on the front cover, bearing the inscriptions “咸豐丁巳年鐫,” “漢文啟蒙,” “阿伯兒輯,” “巴理城,” and “墨頌訥佛書肆發客.”
Numerous early manuscript annotations in French appear throughout, chiefly translating and explaining the meanings of Chinese characters, grammatical structures, and example sentences; there are also extensive pencil corrections and a small number of handwritten Chinese-character exercises.
封面及書脊邊角磨損，布面局部剝落，書脊兩端及書口關節處有裂損；內頁裝訂仍穩固，翻閱無礙。
The covers, spine, and corners are rubbed, with some loss to the cloth and splitting at the spine ends and joints. The text block remains firmly bound and can be handled and read without difficulty.
